Sandwiched between two enormous national parks, Limoges has a beautiful location in the heart of France. Its traditional timber buildings and historic chateaux make for a charming insight into the history of the country. The Vienne River weaves through some of the more modern parts of the town. A weekend break exploring monuments like the unusual Zénith building, made of wood and glass and reflecting the surrounding forests, is time well spent. A city break in this family friendly French town is easy thanks to its compact size. If you fancy a fun ride around town, indulge your inner child and hop aboard the 'Little Train' that drives through Limoges and passes all the main sights. You can snap plenty of photos and tell your friends how much walking you did. A trip to the nearby national parks also makes for an excellent afternoon, before snuggling up at one of the town's bars with a glass of wine as your weekend trip draws to a close.
